Who Am I?

Tracey sent me this random profile to fill out for one of her classes at school and I just wanted to post it on the blog so everyone can get to know me a little bit better in case reading my insane rambling thoughts wasn't enough.

Name: Katie
Where I live: NW Indiana right next to Chicago
Occupation: Lighting Assistant at an Electrical Distributor – and yes. It is just as glamorous as it sounds.

Favorite movie: This is usually a three-way tie with no way of choosing a winner: The Godfather Part I because of Sonny, who I will someday name my first born son after. Ben-Hur because of the lepers and how amazing those scenes are for being filmed in 1959. And The Departed because I have a less than healthy crush on Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio is brilliant in it.

A movie I can't stand (and why): Titanic without question. I despise it more than any other movie out there. A clichéd love story in a mediocre script. The best part was when the boat sank. Don’t even get me started on how this movie won just as many Oscars as Ben-Hur.

Favorite movie quote: “Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here. This is the war room!” – President Merkin Muffley from Dr. Strangelove

“I hate Illinois Nazis.” – Jake Blues from The Blues Brother

“Jack, please, I'm only an elected official! I can't make decisions by myself!" – The Mayor from The Nightmare Before Christmas

Favorite TV show: The Shield - without question - Firefly, The Office, Pushing Daisies, Psych and pretty much anything on HBO: Rome, The Sopranos, The Wire and Deadwood.

People say the Actor to Portray Me: According to my best friend Melissa:

“When I first read that question I thought Rene Zellweger, but I don’t know. I need to ask few follow up questions to your question. Is the movie on Lifetime or a big screen movie? There is a huge difference. If it were a lifetime movie, I’d had to say Kelly Martin.”

Favorite website: TVSquad.com mainly because Jay Black’s columns on The Office have me laughing out loud every week. And I’m a TV junkie – well, I used to be before TV began to suck.

Favorite album: The Clash London Calling; The Slackers Red Light; Weezer’s blue album; Led Zeppelin I and II

Best concert experience: This past summer, I went with my boss, Linda and her niece, Ashley, to go and see Finger Eleven, Taproot, Buckcherry and Godsmack in Downtown Chicago. When Taproot was playing, lead singer Stephen Richards walked around, singing, and I got to slap his hand. Any band that actually interacts with their fans like that is pretty cool in my book. And it helped that seeing those four bands at once was one of the most energy-charged concerts ever.
Favorite book: A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb.

Three famous people I'd like to meet, dead or alive: Easy. Martin Scorsese, Alfred Hitchcock and my Grandpa Bill because he sounds like one of the coolest guys ever.

One famous person I've actually met: I haven’t really met famous people before. I don’t count band members during autograph lines actually meeting them though if that does count, I’ve met Nine Days, Stroke 9 and SR-71. I went to college with Dwayne Wade and got to see him play before he was drafted by the Miami Heat so I technically know him too.

Something I collect: Anything that has a shark printed on it.

Best Halloween costume I've ever worn: I used to be obsessed with The Wizard of Oz growing up and I dressed up like Dorothy for years in a row – the two braided pigtails, the blue and white checkered dress with red shoes, the wicker picnic basket and the best accessory was our family’s Scottish Terrier, Ebony, who doubled as Toto and always had to come trick-or-treating with us.

Celebrity Crush Growing Up: I never told anyone this one but I used to be in love with Ralph Macchio from The Karate Kid and The Outsiders. I actually just watched The Karate Kid again last night and I admit that I still like looking at him. I also used to love Leonardo DiCaprio like every other thirteen year old girl at the time.

Celebrity Crush Now: Christian Bale which stems back to Newsies and loving him the moment he started singing “Santa Fe” and still loving him to this day. Russ Tamblyn because as Gideon from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Riff from West Side Story, he sings, dances, does back flips and plays two of my all-time favorite movie characters. And Riff kicks so much ass. And I have always had a thing for Edward Norton, Paul Newman, and Cary Grant.
