After eating a surprisingly delicious fish dinner at the church last night, Bill and I decided to go see Zodiac and I was so excited to see this one. And I was not disappointed. I was pissed that as I waited for Bill to come out of the bathroom I saw dozens of teenagers flock into the theater. How do they even get in? This movie is rated R. Wow. What badasses to sneak into a rated R film. Mothers, lock your children up. These kids are too bad to handle. *rolling eyes*
Anyway, I think the problem with the audience experience being so terrible for me during this movie with people talking, people texting and then people actually talking on their cell phones was the theatrical trailer that was released for Zodiac. The trailer made this movie seem like some slasher-killer thriller and I think these teenagers were expecting some mindless blood fest. What they got was an intricate detailed look at the investigation of the mysterious killer and the obsessions that those searching for him began to develop over the case. This movie was 2 hours and 40 minutes long so I think with the teenages today all having severe cases of ADD, they did not like the movie and proceeded to bother everyone else that actually wanted to see it.
As for me, I adored this movie. I know a lot about this case and the details they threw in this movie, I'm fairly certain that they didn't leave a single thing out. Everything was followed so close to the actual events, I got lost in the movie and I think there was a point when I didn't blink because I was so engrossed with the film. The murders all take place about 1/3 of the movie in and the rest of the time is focused on the investigation. Apparently, the Zodiac didn't kill enough people to keep the interest of today's youth. I want to go see this movie again but remind me to go see it in the middle of an afternoon when it's been out for a while already.
