The Middleman

Today was such a horrible day at work that by the time noon rolled around, Linda offered to take me to go get some margaritas for lunch. I have already explained what my job is - I work with quoting and ordering lighting fixtures so I deal with both the contractor [customer] and the manufacturer [vendor]. In clearer terms, I'm a middleman. If one of them isn't happy, they call me so I know about it and then can inform the other of their discontent.

What happened to me today is such a long story and I'll probably just get upset and depressed again so in a nutshell, I was put in the middle of the customer and vendor over a particular order. The customer wanted a certain thing and the vendor was certain that she was ordering the wrong things. I couldn't gain any ground with any of them and it became such a heated disaster... All I can say is thank god that my boss, Bob, is amazingly cool and understanding. I was so upset explaining the situation to him but he and Linda helped me and it's taken care of.

I hope that that's the last I hear of it. This is one job I am not going to miss when everything is finally ordered and delivered. Of course, every other job I've done so far hasn't been missed by me either. Being the middleman is not fun. I actually despise confrontation so the fact that this is now my job boggles my mind.
