Labor Day

What a wonderful Labor Day weekend. I took off Thursday and Friday so right after work on Wednesday, I went home, gathered my belongings, included Baxter, packed the car and I was off. I got into Ohio around 11 that night. My parents, especially my mom, were determined to housebreak Baxter and in the process, we borrowed a smaller crate from our neighbors. Since dogs won't pee or poo where they sleep, a smaller crate seems to be working. He holds it until he can go. Outside! Is this what I'm now really excited about in life? My mom and dad love their grand-dog too much though. I specifically said no human food for him and what do they do? They give him steak grissle! Unbelievable! What is this? Am I speaking silly parent talk? Or is this what you automatically become when your child has another breathing alive thing to take care of? You instantly spoil that breathing alive thing, ignoring your child's rules. Isn't his Mohawk cute by the way? I think it's quite stylish.

Starla and Dave FINALLY got married! And it was a great wedding on Saturday night. Great food, great people, good music. I was a bridesmaid and though it was a bit of a pain to drive back and forth for dress fittings and parties and dinners, Starla and Dave are my friends and I was honored that they wanted me to be a part of their day because even if we never talk again, which isn't quite likely, I'll always be a part of that big day.

I love this picture of Starla. The classic bride photograph in my opinion. White dress, liquor and a cigarette. It was hilarious. I had no choice but to snap this picture. The one below is of Starla's niece, Heather, a junior bridesmaid, Starla's daughter Maddie, and Dave's son Brice. We all had a great time and the kids danced until they all passed out. I just had lunch with Starla today before I left and she said that Maddie's legs were hurting her yesterday from dancing so much.

For lunch today, Starla and I were going to eat at East of Chicago pizzaria but we found out that those had closed. So we were going to eat at Cici's, another pizza buffet, but they weren't open on Labor Day so we wound up at McDonald's of all places, which was actually crowded. I love eating with Starla because she loves to gossip and I get to know all of these things about people we know that I never would have known otherwise. Despite being happy for her and Dave, I am happy this wedding is over. Because now, when I go home for a weekend, I don't have other commitments to see to which is nice. I hate commitments.
