Yesterday, I bought a copy of Half Nelson because I wanted to see to see this ever since it was released, but couldn't find it playing anywhere, and also because I feel that Ryan Gosling is the most talented young actor out there at the moment. And after watching this movie last night, my opinion of him is only higher. No wonder he was nominated for his role in this movie.
Watching him play an inner-city junior high teacher with a drug problem who forms an unlikely friendship with one of his students after she discovers his secret showed that he is going to be one of those actors years from now that people will always remember. He is so talented. I can't say enough good things about him. As for the movie, Shareeka Epps, who plays Drey, the student he befriends, is the perfect match for Gosling and the two play off of one another to have both give near-flawless performances. Watch this movie now. It's one of the best I've seen in a long time.

I love the end when they're both sitting on the couch and he tells her that joke about interrupting cows but he screws it up. And she's like..s "That was horrible."
