Friday Night with the Guys

I got a phone call last night from Oliver of all people. Oliver is Jimmy's older brother though he's only eleven months older (Irish twins) and though he went to Northwestern, he would come up to Milwaukee and hang out with us so we're all friends. About two months ago, Oliver was diagnosed with leukemia and started chemo right before Thanksgiving. I told Jimmy that I was going to come visit but Oliver didn't want anyone to see him because apparently the chemo was making him throw up constantly. So of course last night I was very surprised when he called. He asked if I could hang out this weekend. I told him that I couldn't Saturday because I had Janet's Christmas party but I definitely could on Friday after work.

And so it was decided. I will go home after work, pack a bag and Baxter, and start my hellish drive to the northside of Chicago on a Friday night during rush hour. The fun won't start until I arrive. Jimmy and Oliver have one of the best families ever and I can't wait to spend some time with them. I know I'm going to be stuffed with food from their mom and she'll just scoff at the thought of a diet. And their dad is going to spend his time with Baxter. I know already. It's going to be blast - definitely a good Friday night.
