Families and Floods

The family is gone and the house is quiet once again – just in a bit more disarray, which is normal after my mom, dad, and Bill come to stay. Baxter tormented Maxwell the entire weekend and I felt so bad for Max though he did know how to snarl and bite at Baxter occasionally. He just seems so old when the 6-month-old puppy is bouncing around him. I am actually going home this weekend for Adam’s birthday. I hope to call Brittnay and Jon and hopefully they can make it into town for an impromptu party of sorts. I’m planning on working extra hours over the next three days so I can leave at lunch on Friday. That would be a lot better than leaving after work and not getting home until sometime after 11 since I move through the time zones. This way, I get home still early enough to salvage some type of Friday night – which only means going to Drug Mart and renting movies that I need to catch up on watching since I refuse to go to Blockbuster and pay $5 for one movie.

It rained like hell last night, which made me a bit nervous considering what happened to my basement last time it rained like that but disaster was avoided. Though at work today, several manufacturers we get quotes from are down several people because they’re at home, fishing out their basements. It’s supposed to rain again tonight but I hope it’s just rain and not a monsoon. I already survived the Flood of ’06. I don’t need to do it again.

It was so great having the family here for an extended weekend though. The house feels so much better with someone besides me in it. It would have been better with my sister here too so it would have been complete but I’m seeing her this weekend and next weekend and the weekend after that… Yeah. I don’t miss her anymore.
