The Witches, based off of Roald Dahl's book, stars Anjelica Huston as the Grand High Witch, the most evil woman in the world, and honestly, I have never been able to see her in another movie without thinking of her as a witch. I mean, I love her in the Addams Family movies but she will always be the Grand High Witch to me. Because of this movie, I stay far away from people with purple eyes and I'm always looking to see whether a woman is wearing gloves and scratching their heads from where their wigs itch their bald scalps. The scariest moment in the movie for me is when the boy, Luke, is playing in his tree house and a witch appears below. She tries to coax him down but Luke, because of his grandmother's stories, recognizes this woman as a witch. He begins screaming for his grandmother to come from the house.
Witch: Perhaps you'd like some chocolate.
Luke: Grandma!
Witch: She can't hear you. (pause) What's your name? Is it... Luke?
*shivers down the spine* God, this movie creeps me out. Of all of the horror movies I have ever seen, this one has definitely left the longest lasting impression on me and is the only movie to leave me seriously considering sleeping with the lights on afterwards.
Anjelica Huston as the Grand High Witch, the woman nightmares are made of.
