So last night was quite the eventful Saturday night for me. Jim and Heidi came to my house around 8 p.m. and after going to pick Dan up, we all drove over to Houlihan's, which, oddly enough, I helped quote and order the lighting for and I saw TWO of my co-workers there. It was kind of like seeing one of your teachers at the grocery store. A little bit on the surreal side. It was over-priced but the food was still good though the four of us agreed that it was a completely mismatched name for the kind of chic, ultra-modern restaurant it was. And yes. The lighting kicked ass if not on the little dim side.
After eating, we then headed over to the movie theater. For the record, I loathe driving Jim, which I wound up doing. He is convinced I am the worst driver in the world, which I'm not, and spends the entire time telling me how much I suck and how he hopes that I don't kill him. Good thing Houlihan's and the theater are less than a mile apart.
We all went to go see 30 Days of Night, which is a movie I had been wanting to see so bad. Based off of the graphic novel, easily the best graphic novel in the last twenty years, this turned out to be the best horror movie I have seen in a long time. Not only do I love horror movies, but I have always loved the supernatural such as zombies, werewolves and especially vampires. I love the television shows, movies and books focused on vampires so of course this movie was on my must-see list and I definitely was not disappointed. I'm not too sure I want to live in Alaska now though like I have always dreamed of doing.
The movie is about an isolated Alaskan town that is plunged into darkness for a month each year when the sun sinks below the horizon. As the last rays of light fade, the town is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires bent on an uninterrupted orgy of destruction. Only the small town's husband-and-wife Sheriff team stand between the survivors and certain destruction. (summary from IMDB.com)
