Q101 Block Party

Last Friday, Linda, her niece Ashleigh, her friend, Amy, and myself all went to the Q101 Block Party in downtown Chicago at teh Charter One Pavilion to see Finger Eleven, Taproot, Buckcherry, Godsmack. Now, this type of music really isn't my usual type of music at all. It's definitely considered heavy metal - well, Godsmack would be anyway, but I wanted to go. I love music and I am open minded when it comes to music. I will give anything a chance before I form a solid opinion about it. And my God. Am I glad I went. This concert was one of the best concerts I had ever seen. I was still on a high from it days later.

The lead singer of Taproot jumped off stage and went all over the pavilion, slapping hands and hugging fans as he sang. It was so cool of him to do that and I got to slap his hand. Just because he did that, I am now a Taproot fan. It helps that their music is pretty kick ass too. Bands that take the time to appreciate their fans are bands worth listening to. Buckcherry's lead singer had so much energy and the way he moved up on stage, he reminded me and Linda of Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones. And then of course, Godsmack. I don't know if there are words besides awesome and amazing to describe their set. They are unbelievable live and I would love to see them again and again. I was never really into their music before, only hearing a couple songs of theirs on the radio but I definitely am thinking of going out and buying a few of their cds. If you ever have a chance to see any of these bands, I highly recommend it. They are worth the money and you won't regret it.
