Life is a Song

I am a music fan. That is put in as simplest terms as possible. I love everything about music and I firmly believe that music can change a person's life. I can't do anything without music. Even when I'm watching television, I'll usually have a cd playing in the background. I read books about music, I am a member to at least five different on-line radio sites, I make a new mixed cd probably every week and I watch some of my favorite bands perform on YouTube so I can feel like I'm there in the audience feeling the music and losing myself in the song words.

I can honestly say that three bands have changed my whole outlook on music and I can name which songs of theirs have done so for me. Led Zeppelin with Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You, Lynyrd Skynyrd with Free Bird and The Band with The Weight. I can't explain it. When I hear these songs, I just feel better. I feel completely at ease and I can listen to them on repeat. With Zeppelin, I turn the lights out and just lie there, close my eyes and let the music wash over me. Maybe I sound crazy. Maybe you've never felt so connected to music, or a song, like that before unless you were stoned. I just love music. I love everything about it. I don't know what I would do without it. As I write this, Robert Plant's voice is surrounding me and after a rough couple of days, I feel better already. That's what music is supposed to do. It's supposed to change you.
