Romeo and Juliet

I'm a closet Willam Shakespeare fan. Well, actually, it's pretty much out in the open but most people I meet are surprised when they found that out about me. I don't know. For some reason, there's something about me that just doesn't scream class.

But yes. I have read all of his plays, have taken classes on his plays, and own about a dozen books, of both his plays and the man himself. I went through this stage where I thought that maybe Christoper Marlow helped Shakespeare write his stuff but screw that now. Man, Shakespeare was the man when it came to playwriting with Tennessee Williams a close second. If you want to read something about dysfunctional familes, just read some Williams.

Anyway. There was a point to this. I know that for hardcore Shakespeare fans, Romeo and Juliet does not crack the top 10 list of the man's best but it has always been my favorite. I first read this play when I was probably twelve, not understanding a word of it but understanding enough to love it. And now, there seems to have been a real life Romeo and Juliet. Two 5,000-year-old skeletons found locked in an embrace near the city where Shakespeare set the story have sparked theories the remains of a far more ancient love story have been found. This is so weird because I was actually just bitching about movie versions of Romeo and Juliet to my mom today. Give unoriginal Hollywood time though. I'm sure a movie about these two skeletons is already being pumped out.
