It's About Damn Time

Last night, not only did The Departed rightfully win Best Picture of the Year at the 79th Academy Awards, but Martin Scrosese FINALLY won an Oscar for Best Director! Oh thank god. For years, this man has always been the bridesmaid of awards show - never the bride. But last night, he finally got his overdue and deserved Oscar. I am so happy about this. No other director deserved it more than Marty this year. The Departed also won for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing, which if you've seen the movie, you know that these were well deserved as well. Oh goodness. I'm really happy right now. I'm grinning so wide writing this. In high school and college, writing those stupid essays on who is your hero, I usually always wrote about Martin Scorsese. And now, after all of these years, he gets to go home with an Oscar.
