The Departed

The Departed came out on DVD this past Tuesday and as expected, I bought it almost immediately. And since now this beyond fantastic movie is in my possession, I have already watched it three times and as a huge Martin Scorsese fan, I can say with confidence that The Departed is his best since Goodfellas. He needs his Oscar and Leonardo DiCaprio playing the tormented drug-addicted cop informant Billy Costigan, he also needed an Oscar nod. I hate that he was nominated for Blood Diamond instead. This is Leo's movie and that's an accomplishment for this being such an ensemble picture. But it does show that Matt Damon can act. He's so good at playing a mobster/mole in the State Police that I truly hate him watching this - especially as the movie starts it's ascent to the climax. And how many times can you say that Mark Wahlberg and Jack Nicholson kick ass?
