Dazed and Confused

I was watching one of my favorite movies last night: Dazed and Confused. The film takes place on May 28, 1976, the last day of school at Lee High School in a Texas suburb. And since it takes place in the 70s, drunk and stoned debauchery ensues, set to one of the greatest film soundtracks ever put together for the screen. This movie was voted #3 on Entertainment Weekly's List of greatest high school movies ever made.

I love watching this movie. It's one of my happy movies. I just love laughing and watching these high school kids celebrate the last day/night of school. I had an awesome time in high school - maybe too much of an awesome time considering my grades during my freshman and sophomore years. I can relate to these kids living in a small town with nothing else to do but get in trouble and find ways to pass the time. It scares me too because I watch the movie and can remember kids like this that I knew in high school.

Cynthia: "You know, but that's valid because if we are all gonna die anyway shouldn't we be enjoying ourselves now? You know, I'd like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, as some minor insignificant preamble to something else."
