The Things of the Moment

Songs – The songs that are constantly playing either on my stereo or over my computer:

1. “All the Same” – Sick Puppies
Go ahead say it you're leaving. You'll just come back running holding your scarred heart in hand.

2. “Nothing Left to Lose” – Mat Kearney
And I found myself in a bitter fight while I've held your hand through the darkest night. Don't know where your coming from but you’re coming soon.

3. “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” – Dropkick Murphys
I'm shipping up to Boston. I'm shipping off to find my wooden leg!

4. “Black” – Pearl Jam
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why, why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine?

5. “We Are Man and Wife” – Michelle Featherstone
All the things you are to me, darling you have set me free. I'll always give you what you need and what you deserve.

Books – I usually read several books at a time and these books are usually complete opposites of one another. It helps me feel balanced in a world full of chaos.

This Is All I Ask by Lynn Kurland – I got really into romance novels over this past summer and Kurland definitely writes some of the best out there. They’re not trashy or ridiculously cheesy. Her books are usually period pieces and though some, in my opinion, can get repetitive of her previous works, this one is my all-time favorite of hers. In all honesty, I’m reading this for the fifth time. Christopher and Gillian are so perfect for each other, I love reading about them over and over again.

The Shining by Stephen King - Like I mentioned earlier this week, this book is supposed to be one of the scariest books ever written. So given my love of horror, one would think that I have read this before. I haven’t and decided that it was time. Of course, I might just pull a Joey and if it becomes too much for me, I’ll put it in the freezer.

Movies – I just joined Netflix to fulfill my love of movies and these two are two of the best I’ve seen recently.

Lucky Number Slevin – This movie is highly underrated but if you were one of the ten people who saw this in the theater, you already know it. This movie was so surprisingly good, I went on a quest to buy it the next day. And with stars Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley, how can you go wrong in this twisting and turning thriller?

Monster House - In one of the first horror movies directed towards children, this movie has something that a lot of horror movies miss out on – a story. I bought this movie over the weekend and watched it with Melissa. Laughing at dialogue, being disturbed by other scenes, now that’s a movie.
Memorable Quote - DJ: I've just... murdered a guy!
Chowder: Naw... when it's an accident, it's called manslaughter.

It's about time, Katie. I love your things of the moment. I actually check out what you're reading since I've never seen a book collection as cool as yours.

And Monster House was so great! I took my nephew to it on Saturday and saw it again Sunday. I also bought it when it came out. See? I AM a bigger nerd no matter what you say.

Lucky # Slevin kicks so much ass. Why do they call him the rabbi?
Because he's a rabbi.
Also, I've told you for years that Pearl Jam is the greatest band of all time. Whoa. That's scary. We've known each other for yearsssssss now.

Because of you, I've been listening to that Sick Puppies song on repeat now. I think my neighbors want to punch me in the face if they hear it one more time.
