Right now, I’m sitting at my desk, trying to figure out a manufacturer’s quote for a job due and eating the biggest piece of cake I have ever seen. Today is Don’s last day of work after having worked here for 33 years and Donna got him the biggest cake- the only sugary confection beating it in size is a wedding cake. I hope it is realized that after eating this, everyone in the office is going to be on a super high before crashing this afternoon. But still, this cake is delicious with strawberries in the middle and blue and purple flowers in icing on top. Donna wanted to get the company’s logo in icing originally but apparently, there was a problem doing that. I’m not sure what the problem could have been.
Baxter is just full of surprises. Yesterday, for some reason, I was possessed to leave him out of his crate when I went back to work after lunch. Closing all of the bedroom doors and the one to the bathroom, he was left with free domain over the kitchen and living room. I was expecting a disaster when I came home. Instead, I was greeted with an insanely excited puppy. No mess anywhere. He had only dragged out a bone from his toy corner and his precious Bink, which was the first stuffed animal I ever bought him and he drags it everywhere. I was so surprised by it that I left him out again this morning. Of course yesterday was just a fluke and today is when I come home to a beyond messy house.
He might even be getting better at night. Last night, instead of wanting to go out his usual five times, he only had to go out twice and trust me, he had to go. But then he slept the rest of the night without incident. I hope, I really hope, that this is the beginning of fewer appearances by Dr. Satan. But knowing this puppy, yesterday’s behavior could very well have been just a phenomenon that he won’t be showing again.
Melissa is coming on Thursday evening. Her flight gets in at 4:35 and I’m picking her up at the bus station when she finally arrives, which will be a few hours later since she’s taking a bus from the airport through the city at rush hour. Still, I’m so excited to see her.
