Jeffrey, You're In

Okay. I knew I said I wouldn't mind if Jeffrey won on Project Runway but actually watching it happen last night, I was wrong. I did mind and not only that, but I was disappointed. Yes, Jeffrey made a beautiful collection. It was unexpected and different from anything else he had produced the entire season but still. To me, there wasn't anything special. The green striped cocktail dress he made was my favorite and if I wore a size 0, I would want to wear that dress but other than that, I thought it was almost kind of blah.

I'm sure today people are going to be complaining about fan-favorite Michael being the first to be dismissed from Heidi's runway but honestly, you can't moan about that decision. His collection was over the top and a bit tacky. It was his Pam Grier look over and over 12 times. I knew he wasn't going to win as soon as his first and second models came strutting out. Laura was the next to be dismissed and again, that decision made sense. Her collection was indeed stunning and beautiful and looking far more expensive than the $8000 budget allowed but we had seen that from her all season. Intricate detail, impeccable tailoring but there was no big surprise. Nothing walked down that runway that was unexpected. It came down to Uli and Jeffrey.

Uli should have won. There. I said it. And no. It isn't just because Uli has been my favorite all season. Her collection was by far the best of the four shown. And it seemed to be everyone's favorite as well. Judges Heidi Klum and Nina Garcia told her over and over that they loved everything and that they would wear every one of the pieces that was shown to them. Michael Kors thought it was beautiful and Uli was beaming because she, probably like a lot of us, thought that she was going to win. Their only criticism was that it was lacking a bit of cohesiveness. With all of that praise, why didn't Uli win? Jeffrey's collection was nicely done, yes, but Uli's was unbelievable. In my opinion, unbelievable beats out nicely done every time. This season of Project Runway was frustrating to say the least. Because ratings were through the roof for Bravo, producers decided to focus on and create more drama than necessary while the fashion aspect of the show seemed to take a back seat. I feel kind of robbed that after watching religiously for an entire season, I'm left with confusion and bewilderment.
