The Plan

So here was the plan. My dad and I ordered new doors from Home Depot while he was here last weekend and after the guy came out and measured the frames on the house, I got a call and said I could come down anytime and pay for them. I was going to go today. I had a plan. I was going to go to Around the Clock, this wonderful restaurant which serves just about anything, and get some lemon rice soup because it’s fantastic and it fills me up. Then I was going to go to Sterk’s and buy two power ball tickets because the jackpot is up to $200 million and let’s face it. That’s a nice little chunk of pocket change. And then I was going to go to Home Depot, pay for the doors, get home, and let Baxter out to do his business then eat my dinner.

The plans have changed.

I got back to work after my lunch break and there was a message for me on my phone from Montgomery. I called him back and he says that he’s craving a Schoop’s cheeseburger so he’s coming down to have dinner with me. Schoop’s has the best burger in the world and when I write my book of cheeseburgers across the land, Schoop’s is definitely going to have the coveted #1 spot. Montgomery went to college with me and is now going to be attending University of Chicago Law School, putting him actually quite close distance-wise to me. He has had orientation from Tuesday through today and he wants to get away from campus before school starts on Monday. So where does he go? To my rockin’ party pad of course. I have a spare bedroom and Montgomery has stayed for a few weekends already so it’s no big deal. And since for some reason, he always wants to eat at McDonald’s, going to Schoop’s is a nice change of pace for him and I’m only happy to comply.

So. The plan is:

Montgomery is going to go to Sterk’s for me and pick up a couple lottery tickets before going to Schoop’s. I’m going to drive there immediately after work so we can have an early, very early senior citizen hour dinner. Then we’re going home so I can let Baxter out before his bladder explodes in the crate. I would go to Home Depot tonight but I hate letting the dog out only to put him right back in. Montgomery is going to come with me tomorrow to pay for the doors since, for some reason, he loves domestic errands like this. When he was living with the Reilly’s, he was always the first to volunteer to go to the grocery store or dry cleaners. It’s weird but hey. If he wants to come, fine by me. We’ll probably go to Target too tomorrow as well as Old Navy. He says he saw a sweater there he wants. I love Old Navy and actually, almost all of my new work clothes have come from there. Of course, my office is still very casual and on Fridays, it's even more so. Today, I'm wearing a hoodie and my pumas. In fact, the hoodie is from Old Navy.

Man. I’m already salivating for a delicious mouthwatering Schoop’s cheeseburger and a tall cup of Green River. 3 more hours of work.
