Cortaid Is My Savior Today

I woke up this morning with a monstrous mosquito bite on my forehead, right between my eyebrows. I have no idea where it came from. I walk Baxter every night before bed and it had been raining for the last couple of days and mosquitoes love warm damp weather hence the blankets of them in the south that must be dealt with constantly. I remember visiting family down in Arkansas one Fourth of July and the mosquitoes were not exactly pleasant to deal with.

But anyway… back to this particular bite. Maybe I got it last night when walking the dog and didn’t notice it for I went to bed immediately afterwards. I am like a little kid. I have a horrible habit of scratching and scratching until a bug bite that was originally the size of a pinhead enlarges to about the size of a nickel. And since I didn’t want a nickel on my forehead for work today, I did the mature thing and rubbed Cortaid all over it. That seemed to suffice and it isn’t that noticeable anymore, especially since I now have two more bites on my forehead along with it that will get everyone's attention.

I took Baxter out this morning for his morning walk where it was damp and a bit drizzly and as I was standing in the yard, I thought to myself I’ll probably get bit again because it feels like one of those days. And one of those days it is. I have a large bite above my left eyebrow and then another, yes another, bite right by my hairline. Luckily, I can hide that one by un-tucking my hair from behind my ear but the one above my left eyebrow is hopelessly exposed. I rubbed Cortaid over those as well and have brought the roller to work with me but I am now rubbing my fingers over the bumps – yes bumps – and I think they’re engulfing the left side of my forehead. I just need to literally keep my head down all day. This is not fun. I wish it would snow already. Death to the mosquitoes!
