Um... Did Anyone Watch Willingly?

I hate watching award shows. I always have. I hate the acceptance speeches, usually muting the television or leaving the room. Joe Pesci had the best speech in award show history when he won best supporting actor for Goodfellas. "Thank You." That was it. Short, sweet and to the point. I hate the pre-show with a bunch of annoying red-carpet reporters, asking the endless barage of questions "What are you wearing?" "What's your next project?" and the shameless self promotion from the stars. "My new movie comes out on this date and it's the best movie ever." I also don't like wasting 3-4 hours of my life watching a program where I can get a play by play recap the next day courtesy of the internet with a full list of winners and a picture slideshow of the best and worst dressed.

Last night were the Emmy's, the night to honor television's finest shows. Everyone at the Emmy's must have lost that particular memo in the garabage considering some of the best shows on television at the moment were either ignored or failed to win i.e. Lost, Grey's Anatomy, My Name is Earl. Though I was happy to hear The Office won Best Comedy, I would have loved if dark-horse contender Scrubs had won. That show is brilliantly funny and after five seasons, come on already. I think it's time this show was awarded at least something! Tony Shalhoub won best actor in a comedy series for Monk and though I think Tony is a funny guy, we get it. Monk is an obsessive-compulsive detective. We got it the first two times he won. Keifer Sutherland won best actor in a drama series for 24, which I have no opinion on considering I have never seen one hour of that show despite my friend Dan insisting that it's the best show ever created by man. It also won best drama series.

I didn't watch one moment of the show and see? I already know all of the winners and that Sandra Oh from Grey's Anatomy wore a horrid looking dress. I hate award shows. No one wins that should. *cough! cough* How about giving Martin Scorsese an Oscar already?
