Settling for Scotty

I've decided that I must write a quick entry dedicated to my wonderful friend, Scotty. We went to college together, got drunk together, and now just happen to work for the same company together. Aren't coincidences a wonderful thing? And though I am in Indiana and Scotty is living it up like the party fool he is in Erie, PA, this is not a problem. How do you ask? Our company has this thing called Sametime, an instant messaging system that anyone who works for this place has access to. It's quite convenient to use, especially when neither of us feel like working or one of us is having a slow day. Scotty sends celebrity gossip to me, and sometimes gossip about Brandon, another close friend that also works for the same company. I adore Scotty for helping me pass time at work and for being the first to leave a comment on this blog.

He's also such a good sport since we have agreed to marry one another by the time we're 30. At least I think it's 30. We kept changing the age since our biological clocks are ticking. I think having an agreement like this with one of your friends is a very good backup plan to have. This is how my date to senior prom, one of my best friends at the time, Alex asked me. We had made a promise to each other in 8th grade that we would go to senior prom together. I had completely forgotten about it until Alex walked up to me one day and asked "We're still going to prom together, right?" Huh? Uh, sure.

I'll remember the pact with Scotty though simply because I'm going to write a book about our lives together cleverly titled Settling for Scott. And of course we must get the most flattering of all pictures of my future husband. Preferably something with his gut hanging out and a beer in his hand. Every female in America will be so jealous of me and the book will be an instant bestseller.
